FLASHBACK Playing every Friday and Saturday evening... “Flashback” Flashback plays the oldies but goodies that people love to hear! Led by guitarist BobbyLee Sorenson, the group delivers an assortment of Motown favorites, good ole’ blues, rock and roll, disco, jazz and pop classics. Boasting a collective arrary of professional credits, “Flashback” has the talent, musicianship, versatility and repertoire to bring its audiences top-notch entertainment with that old time R&B edge. BobbyLee Sorenson (Guitarist/Harmonica) BobbyLee Sorenson, founder of “Flashback,” has led and inspired the group to create that R&B sound that has become “Flashback’s trademark. With more than three decades in the business, BobbyLee’s personal charisma commands the stage as he jams on the guitar and blows the blues like no other on the harmonica. Throughout his stellar career, BobbyLee has dazzled audiences at a long string of renowned venues including the legendary Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. He has opened for such well known artists as The Ventures, Gary Lewis and The Playboys, Johnny Rodriguez, and Rita Coolidge who was always only too happy to share the stage with such a seasoned professioanl. One of BobbyLee’s highest honors was in 1981, when as leader of BobbyLee and The Freedom Band, he received a nomination by the Academy of Country Music for Best Non-Touring Group of the Year. Shannan Renee Parks Has been singing in LA and Orange County for over 25 years. Was the lead singer of the house band at the Hotel Laguna for ten years. Shannan also played with Pilar Wayne, traveling the country with her. Shannan has appeared on many television specials and was the first prize winner on The Gong Show. She has performed with Waylon Jennings, The Trumps and Maria Holly and the Crickets. Matthew (Matt in the Hat) Boyd (Lead Vocals/Keyboard) Matthew Boyd, a privately trained veteran musician, launched his formal music career in 1972 after discovering that his love affair with the keyboard could turn into a lucrative professioanl endeavor. Playing from the age of 12, Matt has mastered that smooth, blues style on the keys and developed a mellow vocal sound all his own. Matt has performed at some of LA’s best known jazz and blues clubs, such as The Blues Cafe in Long Beach, Birdland West, and the greatly missed Basin Street Cafe with BobbyLee. In 1986, Matt, along with bandmember Mike Freeman, formed the West Coast Reunion Band and opened for blues greats Little Milton and The King Brothers. The band shared in winning the prestigious Long Beach Blues Festival Talent Search when they were backing up well known vocalist Donna King. Mike Freeman (Lead Guitarist/Sax/Flute) Mike Freeman’s versatility covers a gamet of musical talents. Whether he’s playing “The Thrill is Gone” on the guitar, or “Shotgun” on the sax, his unique musicianship and quirky sense of humor gets the house rockin’. His extraordinary playing was well received while touring with the well known disco group, “Smile,” which traveled from the Alaskan tundra to the beaches of Southern California. Other venues include Basin Street Cafe, Blue Cafe, Birdland West, and the Long Beach Blues Festival where he shared top honors with Matt Boyd in 1987. Mark Anderson (drummer/BGV’s) is the son of a Dixieland Big Band Drummer, he started developing skills at an early age learning all the basic rhythms, sambas, cha cha, bosa nova etc…His Fathers influences weaned him of many styles, Count Basie, Big Band, Jazz, R&R and of course Fusion & Funk. He started playing professionally while in the High School Jazz Band for large ball room dance gigs for Disneyland. Once in college and playing for Jazz Band, Band, Orchestra (Section Leader), Local City Broadway Show Band & the Instructor for the Percussion Ensemble, Marks talents include Tympani, Vibes, Marimba & Xylophone. Marks interests original music influenced by Yes, King Crimson & Gentle Giant pushed him beyond the standard top 40 club gigs that put him through college where he toured thru Canada, Alaska and Pacific Northwest. A European Album release brought out his recording engineering studio talents and versatility. Mark has worked for known Artists as the Temptations, Little Feat, Iron Butterfly, and many many others, not to mention the “Freedom Band” with BobbyLee. Mark is an asset to any group with his Enthusiasm & Pocket Groove approach and Flashback is honored to have him sitting in the Groove Seat.
